PurplePay is a digital financial service product (“The Platform”), developed by PURPLEDOT MEDIA.
This policy is to inform you of how we collect, use and store personal information provided by you when you visit our website or use the PurplePay application and the associated services at any time (“The Service”).
We use your data to provide and improve your experience on the PurplePay website and application. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of personal information in accordance with this policy.

The information we hold about you
Information submitted through our app or website:
Personal data, or personal information means any information provided by you with which you can be identified.
When you sign up to the app and provide details such as your name, ID (passport data page, national ID), your photograph, house address, email address, phone number and other details which would enhance your service experience:
Details about your transactions with us
This includes your PurplePay transaction history, PurplePay cards, information you provide to deliver payment for services, frequent transactions and any external bank account numbers you opt to save on your PurplePay account.
Information on how you use your device
We may also collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Service or when you access the website by or through a computer (‘Usage Data’).
This Usage Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
When you access the Service by or through a mobile device or use the mobile app, this Usage Data may include information such as the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
We only have access to information you choose to share with us. This information may include access to your phonebook, current location, camera or photos.
We do not store or upload your information to our servers, we only collect what we need to improve your experience and to verify your identity.
We may also process specific categories of information for specific and limited purposes, such as detecting and preventing financial crime or making our services available to customers.
We will only treat particular types of information where we have obtained your explicit consent or are otherwise lawfully permitted to do so.
Information we collect from your phone
We collect this information to optimize your banking experience. This includes your:
- Operating system and device ID, so we can analyze how our app works and fix any issues.
- If you authorize your location, we can help protect you against fraud in a situation where your account has been accessed from a different location.
- Phone contacts so you can pay bills with your active friends on PurplePay seamlessly (we don’t store your full address book).
- Mobile advertising ID, to enable us to communicate properly with you and tailor adverts to your needs.
How We Gather Information
We collect and review generic usage information to help us understand how you and other users use the PurplePay app so we can improve your experience. The information we collect include:
- Information you give to us through the app, website or other touch points.
- Information that we receive from agencies including credit reference, fraud prevention or government agencies, other banks, and third-party agents who provide services to you or us.
- Information that you have given us permission to collect from the technology you use to access our services (location data from your mobile phone, IP addresses, telephone number) and how you use it.
- Information we collect from publicly available sources, such as the press, company registers and online search engines.
How we use the information
To provide our services, we use your information to:
- Personalize your experience
- Improve our website/app and personal services
- enhance our marketing and communication strategy
- Product design feedback and analysis
- For other business research, analytics and monitoring
With your permission. We use your information:
- To check your account balance, transaction history.
- To market and communicate our products and services and those of affiliated partners with you via email. This would be determined by what we think would interest you and if you are not interested, you can always unsubscribe
- With other banks or organizations so that we can help recover funds that have entered your account as a result of a payment sent in error by one of the above
But, we’re safe with it and will not disclose your Personally Identifiable Information to anyone except when:

We have implemented a number of security measures designed to keep your personal information safe. Any data (including personal information) will be collected and stored on secure file servers.
How long will we keep your information
We will keep your personal data for as long as we have a relationship with you, i.e. for as long as you use the app, remain validly subscribed to our newsletter or partake in surveys.
Once that relationship with you has come to an end (e.g. following closure of your account) or cancellation of your subscription to the Service), we will not gather or collect any new information about you.
Once the relationship is over, we will only retain personal data for a period of time. This period will vary depending on the purpose for which we hold that information and subject to business or legal and regulatory requirements.
How long will we keep your information on the app(mobile)
We keep your personal data on the mobile for as long as your session exists, which is 24hrs, before you are asked to log back into the app again. Upon session end, the app deletes all data stored within.
Who we share the information with
Your information, including Personal Data, may only be accessed by employees that have a business reason to do so.
We also share relevant information with partners who assist us in serving you better. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations on data protection, this Privacy Notice and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
Special categories of personal data (also known as sensitive personal data) are part of the information we collect from you. In particular, we may process biometric data for services that require it. Where sensitive personal data is involved, we will do so on the basis that it is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest, to establish, exercise or defend any legal claims. We will carry out the processing under applicable laws.
Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third-party products or services or links on our application or website. These third-party sites have separate and independent Privacy Policies. We, therefore, have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our website and welcome any feedback about these sites.

Accordingly, we are not responsible for the matters, which include actions of hackers and other unauthorized third parties that breach our reasonable security procedure. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your Personal Information. You also play a role in protecting your Personal Information.
Please safeguard your passcodes for your PurplePay account and do not share them with others. If we receive instructions using your PurplePay account login information, we will consider that you have authorized the instruction.
You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your PurplePay account or any other breach of security. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to refuse to provide our Services, terminate PurplePay accounts, and to remove or edit content.
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 16 (‘Children’).
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 16. If you are under the age of 16, do not subscribe to our Service or submit any information to us. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child(ren) has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us.
If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
Changes to this policy
Based on the changing nature of privacy laws, user needs and our business, we may modify this Privacy Notice from time to time.
